CONVERSATION
Social equality is a crucial precondition for political equality. Yet, in all liberal democracies, the rich and privileged are far more likely to participate in democratic processes than the poor and marginalised. How do forms of social and cultural status inequality translate into political inequalities? And how can the structures that facilitate those transmission mechanisms be overcome? This session will explore the key role of eradicating socio-economic and cultural inequalities towards a democracy that is equally and freely shaped by all.
